blog from the burrow...

Well, its been a Very Quiet Year for Beryl, understandably so. But all that time spent not gigging or hosting events and workshops has not lead to more writing...

Perhaps the world issues have been too enormous and confusing to draw a coherent view from. Perhaps there have been too many voices already in the maelstrom to bring an additional perspective. Perhaps she's just been enjoying a good old bit of non-productivity.

But a few nice things are quietly ticking on... including a collaboration with Dorset artist Avelana Levemark. Its set to be an interactive children's storybook which also cultivates awareness of Natures cycles and our wild environment. Many enthusiasms, aspirations and ideas have already passed between us, but im sure it will be a process of patience to craft a book full of such intricate illustration. Watch this space!

Also, it was a pleasure to be asked to share and talk about the 'Let Them Eat' poem on BBC Radio Southwest' despite the immediacy of the invitation, and Beryl's aversion to spontaneity!

It's affirming but also important, to feel like a message is received and welcome; especially that of bringing awareness to the oddities of our inner dialogue, and accepting ourselves with all of it. Many thanks to Ally Reeve for her animated support.

Walker Books are the latest to get in touch with a publishing request. Just for a single poem, but lovely to more and more be included in the genre of children's poetry. A collection of poims for smaller people is definitely in the pipeline! This latest anthology from Walker will be titled 'Give Yourself A Hug; a poem for every feeling' edited by William Sieghart and illustrated by Emily Sutton.
